The Best Company Award will recognize the top nominee based on nomination votes and financial information that best demonstrates exceptional leadership as well as a proven track record of growth and profitability. The nominee will have also succeeded in presenting a quick and concise business pitch to the judging panel.

To be eligible for the Best Company Award, nominees are currently operating a business in B.C. for a minimum of 25 months or have completed more than 2 fiscal years as of December 31, 2012.  All nominees must have less than 50 employees.

Best Concept

The Best Concept Award will recognize the top nominee based on nomination votes and a comprehensive executive summary (maximum 2 pages) that best demonstrates a viable business idea. The nominee will have also succeeded in presenting a quick and concise business pitch to the judging panel.

To be eligible for the Best Concept Award, nominees are thinking of starting a business or have been operating a business in B.C. for a maximum of 24 months as of December 31, 2012. All nominees must have less than 50 employees.

Best Employer

The Best Employer Award will recognize the nominee based on nomination votes and who best demonstrates outstanding leadership in the workplace and promotes employee health and safety and values preventing workplace injuries in the same way they value productivity and customer service. The nominee will have also succeeded in presenting a quick and concise business pitch to the judging panel.

To be eligible for the Best Employer Award, nominees are currently operating a business in B.C., be registered with WorkSafeBC, and have more than one but less than 50 employees.

The Best Green Business Award will recognize the top nominee based on nomination votes and who best demonstrates outstanding commitment to energy and sustainability through leadership and actions that proactively influence GREEN practices with evidence of long-term commitment to energy conservation and waste reduction. The nominee will have also succeeded in presenting a quick and concise business pitch to the judging panel.

To be eligible for the Best Green Business Award, nominees are currently operating a business in B.C. and have less than 50 employees.

The Best Online Marketer Award will recognize the top nominee based on nomination votes and the integrated email and social media marketing campaign that best demonstrates creativity and customer engagement as well as proven positive results against the measurable goals set for the campaign. The nominee will have also succeeded in presenting a quick and concise business pitch to the judging panel.

To be eligible for the Best Online Marketer Award, campaigns must be executed within the calendar year prior to the contest period (between October 1, 2011 and September 30, 2012). All nominees must have less than 50 employees.

The Best Community Impact Award will recognize the top nominee based on nomination votes and who best demonstrates a positive impact in the community in which they operate and has taken positive action to invest in that community.  The nominee will have also succeeded in presenting a quick and concise business pitch to the judging panel.

To be eligible for the Best Community Impact Award, nominees must have been in operation for a minimum of 12 months in BC. All nominees must have less than 50 employees.
